Waste oil disposal: how Drum Cleaning works

Written by Geicos group | Aug 8, 2023 6:30:00 AM

Summer has arrived, which for many represents vacation, relaxation and good food. The fried foods that are eaten are certainly delicious, but what happens to the oil? We thought we'd write this article to explain how waste oil disposal works and how Geicos contributes to cleaning this contaminant in the industrial field.

A year of successes

2023 has been an extraordinary year for our company, marked by unprecedented growth and innovation. We have introduced new and advanced equipment, such as the HP COMPACT manual parts washer and the automatic counterpart WASHER 1150X, which have received an enthusiastic reception from our customers. With passion and dedication, we have faced stimulating challenges, creating tailor-made projects that have exceeded all expectations and fully satisfied our loyal customers.

We have participated in specialized international fairs, such as AUTOMECHANIKA in Frankfurt, the Industry Days at HUNGEXPO in Budapest and AUTOZUM in Salzburg. With these experiences we have known and conquered new markets, acquired new customers and collaborated with world-famous distributors. Supported by the POC of the Veneto region, we have taken advantage of these opportunities abroad to further strengthen our presence in the global market.

The well-deserved break

After such a busy year, it's time to relax and take some time for ourselves. With summer just around the corner, the inviting temperatures push us towards seaside destinations or to discover the cool mountain peaks. In both cases, our country offers places of relaxation, culture and a vast culinary selection that few others in the world can match. From the delicious Parmigiana from Campania to the succulent Ascolane olives from the Marche region, to the irresistible Sicilian arancini or arancine, from the delicious Apulian panzerotti to the exquisite Venetian fried fish, the offer is truly amazing.

All of these delicious dishes have something in common: the recipe usually calls for frying in vegetable oil, which needs to be replaced frequently to ensure optimal cooking. The used oil is collected in fully-opening plastic bins and managed by companies certified by the National Consortium of Used Oils. These companies dispose of waste oils in a sustainable way, transforming them into useful products such as glycerine for cosmetics and biodiesel. We are not only talking about cooking oils, of course, but also industrial oils, which are used more frequently by our customers.

The next question is: how do you clean plastic bins?

Washer Easy One: cleaning of used cooking oil drums

In the waste oil disposal process, a fundamental role is the cleaning of the containers. Our solution for this activity is Washer Easy One, an automatic machine for washing drums used for the collection of used oils. This product once again confirms our commitment to environmental sustainability and ecological awareness.

Washer Easy One is a spray washing machine specially designed to efficiently clean both internally and externally fully opening bins. The machine is equipped with a special modifiable support, capable of adapting to the different dimensions of the bins, guaranteeing an impeccable result for containers with a capacity between 20 and 230 litres. Thanks to the high pressure degreasing power of the nozzles, placed in the washing ramps both inside and outside the bin, the containers are sanitized completely and accurately.

How do you dispose of used oil?

Waste oil requires special attention during its disposal: incorrect disposal of the material can have a negative impact on nature. Firstly, the high degree of pollution of oil makes it a destructive agent for soil and water, capable of wreaking havoc on surrounding ecosystems. Furthermore, if dispersed improperly, it can clog wastewater purification systems, compromising their functioning. Proper collection and disposal is a crucial countermeasure to prevent the risk of fire, as used oil is extremely flammable. But there's more: the recycling of this precious liquid offers an opportunity to recover energy and reduce our dependence on traditional energy sources, paving the way for a more sustainable perspective.

Finally, responsible management of used oil is a duty towards future generations, as it allows us to preserve the integrity of our environment for those who will come after us. Geicos is proud to be part of this process. We will continue to promote innovation and ecological responsibility in our future projects.

With minimal effort we can maintain the flavor of the holidays and, at the same time, protect the beauty of our planet. Happy holidays!
